Practiced mainly in the upper reaches where water is wild and white, as it froths and foams, crashing against narrow gorges and rocks falling at deep gradients.

AULI: Auli lies in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and boasts of one of Asia’s finest ski resort but skiing is not the only thing on offer in this great tourist destination. On one hand Auli is the perfect place to feel the adrenal rush while coming down at a speed of 20 – 40 km/hr from an altitude of nearly 3000 meter from the sea level, with a vertical drop of 529 meter, while on the other hand Auli offers heart stopping moments with its panoramic views, green meadows and dense forests.

Auli offers the best skiing options with the luxury of an 800-meter chair lift linking the lower slopes with the upper region. Remote-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic braking system makes it safe to travel in this chair, which also has a storm-warning device attached to it.
DAYRA BUGYAL: Bugyal in the local language means “High Altitude Meadow”. Dayara Bugyal is one of the most beautiful places in Uttaranchal.Situated at an elevation ranging from 10,000-12,000 ft. This vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty in Uttaranchal. During winter it provides excellent & one of the best ski slopes in India spread over an area of 28 sqkms.
MUNDALI: Situated in the district of Dehradun , 129 kms away from Chakrata, Mundali offers an unforgettable panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayas. This place has vast ski slopes on which professions can enjoy skiing.
