Dodital, the lake has it own mythological importance in the history, is one of the preferred trekking destination at the present age. Dodital is the birth place of Lord Ganesha and is said to have witnessed the beheading of the deity by Lord Shiva. Surrounded by lush greenery with crystal clear water makes this place as an ultimate destination for the travelers and sightseers. At an elevation of 3307 meters above mean sea level, in the north of Uttarakashi is a precise trekking destination and also holds potential for other adventure sports.


The lake is famous for its Himalayan trout, the exoticness rendered by surrounding forest and tranquility provided by the calm waters of the lake. This is an imposing destination with impeccable beauty and many a facts that are a lot adorable.


Dodital provides a lot of opportunity to travelers to hang around in the Asi Ganga valley. There are subsidiary treks transporting one from Asi Ganga valley to Bhagirathi Ganga valley and to the Yamuna valley and vice versa.


Apart from a display of natural beauty there is an array of diversity in culture and heritage for which India is known for ages. The array of culture can be seen by travelers during their voyage through remote Himalayan settelements.

ITINERARY
 
Day 1 : ARRIVE DELHI  

Arrive Delhi. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Delhi combined with a visit to Akshar Dahm Temple.
Overnight.

 
Day 2 : DELHI – RISHIKESH 225 Kms (6-7 Hours)

“Rishikesh- The gateway to the Himalayas”. Located at a height of about 408 mts. above sea level it rests in the laps of the lower Himalayas and is surrounded by the scenic and unparalleled beauty of the hills on the three sides with holy Ganga flowing through it. Overnight.

 
Day 2 : RISHIKESH - SANGAMCHATTI  

The day starts with a beautiful drive towards Sangam chatti. You withness the colours of Himalayan beauty displayed in different sects i.e. flora, landscape and local settlements. The drive takes you through the historic town of Narendranagar, goes past along the river Bhagirathi Ganga and continues to the holy town of Uttarkashi. From here it’s a drive of 14 km to reach Sangamchatti, which is a small market place serves basic supplies to the local inhabitants. Overnight stay at guest house/tent.

 
 
Day 3 : SANGAMCHATTI - AGODA (2250 mts/7380 ft) - MANJHI (16 kms/6- 7 hrs)

You are introduced to the trekking team and see porters/ponymen. The day starts with crossing over the river Asiganga on a well made bridge , which is followed by an ascend of 5 km to take you to the village of Agoda. The local inhabitants of the village could be seen going to and fro from Sangamchatti, some busy in the fields others involved in their day to day activities.

 

From here the trail is gradual for about 2 kilometers and continues to the village of Bhebra, which is marked with crossing over a side stream on a bridge and a couple of houses which serve as guest houses and hotels for the tourists. Beyond Bhebra the trail starts to climb until it reaches the top of the ridge marked with a sun shed. The trail from here passes through the beautiful forest of Rhododendron to reach Majhi which is a long but very beautiful and cherishing walk. Manjhi has a potential campsite and a lot of houses, again serving as shops and hotels for the tourists. Overnight in the tents.

 
Day 4 : MANJHI - DODITAL (3307 10847 ft) (6 Kms/ 3 - 4 hrs)

The day's walk is relaxing and less challenging in comparison to the previous one. The trail passes through the forest of Rhododendron, involves a couple of side stream crossings goes over steep cliffs finally reaches the magnificent lake of Dodital. The Dodital is a gorgeous lake with the temple of Ganesha, couple of guest houses and excellent campsite by the lake. Overnight in the tents.

 
Day 5 : DODITAL (3307 mts/10847 ft)  

The day is for rest at Dodital which is well enriched with the beauty and tranquility of the lake surrounded by a dense forest. The scenic beauty of Dodital can compel any nature lover to camp here for days together. The lake has a surrounding pine forest with the Darwa meadow towering on one side and the open wide valley on the other is really awesome. A few rivulets which together make a distinguishing stream coming from Darwa meadow feed the lake. The evening pooja at the Ganesha temple adds to the energy of the place is really pleasant. Overnight in the tents.

 
Day 6 : DODITAL - DARWA TOP ( 4150 m) (5 kms/ 3 hrs)

Though the day's walk is of 5 kilometers only still an early start is suggested in order to have captivating views on the pass.. The day starts with the trail winding up at the feeding end of the lake, passing through the narrow gorges, birch forest, rocky colonies, and involves a series of rivulet crossings leads to a high meadows. Later the trail gets steep with a few switch backs finally takes you to the pass. The stunning view of Bandarpunch Peak and Swargarohini range is immaculate and most adorable. Later start reverse trek towards Dodital. Overnight in the tents.

 
Day 7 : DODITAL – AGODA (2250 mts/7380 ft) (17 kms/4-5 hrs)

The reverse trek to Agoda is long one but not a challenging one. Its really a beautiful walk cherishing the spirits. The views lower down the valley are equally admirable that insist the photography lovers. Overnight in the tents.

 
Day 8 : AGODA - RISHIKESH (4 kms trek + 140 kms Drive)

An easy trek through the settlements of Agoda village finally takes you to Sangam Chatti. Board the vehicles and start driving towards Rishikesh. On arrival check into the hotel. Evening is free for relaxation. Overnight in the hotel.

 
Day 9 : RISHIKESH - HRIDWAR - DELHI  

Early in the morning via Haridwar, (where we stop for a few hours) we depart for Delhi. On an evening arrival we check in.

 
Day 10 : DEPART  

Transfer to International airport to connect the flight to onward destination.
