Kuari pass, cradled in the heart of snow capped Garhwal Himalayas, is located in Chamoli district within the hill state of Uttarakhand in India. Situated at an altitude of 3,565 meters above the sea level, this pass promises to enthrall visitors by its sheer magnificence. The Kuari Pass trek was first traversed in 1905 by Lord Curzon (hence also known as Curzon Trail) and is very popular among European and American Travelers.

 

The entire area is rich in exotic flora and fauna and be ready with your camera to catch a glimpse of bharal (blue sheep), Himalayan black beer or the multi colored Himalayan monla. The trail takes you through lush green fields, remote villages and virgin forests providing you with some of the most scenic Himalayan terrain. The close range view of Mt.Nanda Devi along with numerous other peaks is the reward that awaits the trekker atop the Kuari pass!

ITINERARY
 
Day 1 : ARRIVE DELHI  

Arrive Delhi. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Delhi combined with a visit to Akshar Dahm Temple.
Overnight.

 
Day 2 : DELHI – RISHIKESH 225 Kms (6-7 Hours)

“Rishikesh- The gateway to the Himalayas”. Located at a height of about 408 mts. above sea level it rests in the laps of the lower Himalayas and is surrounded by the scenic and unparalleled beauty of the hills on the three sides with holy Ganga flowing through it. Overnight.

 
Day 3 : RISHIKESH - AULI (2800 M / 9185 ft) 296 kms ( 8-9 Hours)

Early morning drive to Auli . Auli is the most famous skiing destination in India. Enjoy the enchanting view of the Nanda Devi peak and other Himalayan giants from here. Overnight in a Tourist Rest House.

 
Day 4 : AULI - CHITRAKANTHA (3310 M)  

We start trekking from Auli, today's trek is of 15 kms and will take us 7-8 hrs. We will en route cross the famous bugyals (meadows) of Gurson and will also get views of the route leading to the famous Nanda Devi sanctuary, along the Rishi Ganga. Overnight in tents..

 
Day 5 : CHITRAKANTHA (3310 M) - KUARI PASS (3640 M) - DAKHWANI (3300 M)  

Today's trek of 14 km will take us about 4-5 hrs. You will get to see some of the most popular Himalayan peaks while hiking today. Overnight in tents.
DAY SIX: DAKHWANI (3300 M) - PANA (2450 M) Today's hike of 14 km is mostly through forests and will take us about 6-7 hrs. Overnight in tents.

 
Day 6 : DAKHWANI (3300 M) - PANA (2450 M)  

Today's hike of 14 km is mostly through forests and will take us about 6-7 hrs. Overnight in tents.

 
Day 7 : PANA (2450 M) - RAMNI (2550 M)  

Today's trek of 17 km will take about 6-7 hrs. Overnight in tents.

 
Day 8 : RAMANI (2550 M) - GHAT (1330 M) - RUDRAPRAYAG/SRINAGAR  

Trek 15 km (4-5 hrs) to reach Ghat. From Ghat drive down to Rudraprayag or Srinagar (5-6 hrs). Overnight in a tourist rest house.

 
Day 9 : RUDRAPRAYAG/SRINAGAR - HARIDWAR  

After breakfast drive to Haridwar (4 hrs). Afternoon visit the city of countless Temples and hermitages. A gate way to Lord, it is one of the four places where drops of ‘Amrit’ elixir accidentally get spilled over from the pitcher being carried by bird Garuda.

 
Day 10 : HARIDWAR-DELHI  

Morning drive to Delhi. Evening tour of New Delhi- India Gate. Drive past the President’s estate and Parliament buildings, through Diplomatic Enclave and Connaught Place.

 
Day 11 : DEPART DELHI  

Transfer to International airport to connect the flight to onward destination.

PREPARING FOR THE TRIP
     

We will recommend that you start walking for about 30 minutes everyday about a week or ten days before you come on the trip. It would be nice if you could do uphill walking. Along with this you should do stretches for various parts of your body. Special attention should be paid to your leg muscles. Squatting is a highly recommended exercise.

Carry your stuff in a duffel bag, soft shoulder bag or a rucksack. Avoid suitcases, trolleys or any other hard luggage. Also carry a small knapsack to carry your personal items like cameras, water bottles, etc. while walking during the day. Each person should carry a maximum of 15 kgs of luggage on the trek.
