Day 1: DELHI-HARIDWAR
• You will commence the rest of the Yatra from here.
• Get settled in your hotels.
• Visit all the famous temples namely Daksh Temple, Rudraksha Temple, Kankhal, Jain Temple, Bharat Mata Mandir etc.
• Har Ki Pauri is the world-famous and crowded ghat on the river Ganges
• Evening aarti is an eye-treat
Day 2: HARIDWAR-BARKOT(210kms/7-8hr) HT : 1352 MTS.
• Barkot (1352 meters) is a town in Uttarkashi District
• It is located on the banks of the Yamuna River and biggest town in Yamunotri Dham.
• The ride passes through Mussoorie and Kempty Falls.
• It is recommended to have lunch near Kempty falls as good restaurants are not available henceforth.
• You will arrive at Barkot in the evening.
• There are apple orchards, panoramic views of the snowcapped mountains of Bandar Poonch
Weather – Generally pleasant in summer, the temperature ranges from 25-30 degree Celsius, Winter: The Days are pleasantly cool but the nights are cold, temp ranges from 10 degree to 05 degree.
Day 3: BARKOT -YAMUNOTRI – BARKOT {36kms drive & 6kms Trek (one side)} HT: 3291 MTS.
• Start your morning by a short drive to Jankichatti/Phoolchatti.
• Hike to Yamnotri which is 6 km far begins.
• The trek is through the lush valley, dense conifers, rhododendrons, cacti and numerous Himalayan shrubs.
• Yamunotri is the origin of River Yamuna.
• Surya Kund which amongst several hot springs in the area.
• Many pilgrims carry rice in a cloth and dip in the hot water to get cooked rice.
• The Shila is a rock pillar that is worshipped before stepping in the temple.
• After hot water dips and peaceful mind, return to Barkot.
Day 4: BARKOT- UTTARKASHI (90kms/4hr) HT :1352 MTS.
• Uttarkashi is the hub of adventures and spirituality.
• Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) is located in Uttarakashi.
• This town is considered comparable to Varanasi which is also on the banks of river Ganges.
• One of the pious temples is the Vishwanath temple believed to be the oldest one.
• If you believe the literature of Skanda Puran, Uttarkashi is home of Lord Shiva for Kaliyug.
• It is also a part of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
Day5: UTTARKASHI – GANGOTRI -UTTARKASHI (100kms/3-4hour each side) HT : 3048 MTS.
• Next Dham of the Char Dhams,Gangotri.
• Gangotri is by far world’s eminent tourists and religious destination.
• Along the way at Gangnani take the chance to bathe in Garam Kund.
• Ganga river here is also called Bhagirathi.
• The revere Gangotri temple was built by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century.
• Another attraction is the submerged Shivling which comes to sight only in winter when the river level is less.
• Around 100 Yards from the Ganga Temple flows the river Kedar Ganga.
• There is also a Kedar Ganga temple which you must visit.
• After a day full of exploration back to Uttarkashi.
Day 6: UTTARKASHI – GUPTKASHI (220kms/8-9hr) HT : 1319 MTS.
• The route is extremely tranquil through Moolgarh and Lambgoan.
• The path to Guptkashi goes side by side of the Mandakini river.
• Guptkashi, it means “hidden Varanasi” as per the Puranas.
• Some people say hereditary priests stay in Gupt Kashi in winters when the Kedarnath temple is closed.
• Visit Ardh Narishwar temple, it is stunning at night lights.
• Stay in hotel.
Day 7: GUPTKASHI – KEDARNATH (30kms by road & 16 kms Trek)
• It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
• Kedar is synonym name of Lord Shiva who both protector and the destroyer.
• Kedarnath is also part of the Panch Kedar Yatra.
Option 1
• After a medical check-up head to Sonprayag.
• Hike up to Kedarnath from sonprayag.
• You can also hire take a pony or a doli.

• Take a Helicopter from Guptkashi/Fata
Day 8: KEDARNATH- GUPTKASHI (19Kms Down Trek & 30kms/1hr by Road)
• Visit temple early morning by 4:45 am
• Everyone can go inside Garbha Griha and touch the idol.
• You can also prostrate with your head touching the deity etc.
• After Temple Darshan trek down to Sonprayag.
• Drive to Guptkashi and check in Hotel.
Day 9: GUPTKASHI– BADRINATH (215kms/7hr) HT : 3133 MTS.
• Badrinath is the final stop of the Char Dhaams.
• You will take a 7 hours long ride to Badrinath via Joshimath.
• Badrinath is protected by Nar and Narayan mountains on sideways.
• This religious place is also filled with hot water springs of which Tapt and Narad kunds are popular.
• Tapt Kund is on Alaknanda river banks and it is compulsory to bath in this kind before stepping the Badrinath temple.
• Narad Kund is the pool where Badrinath idol was discovered.
• Brahama Kamal (a platform where rituals for deceased are performed).
• Sheshnetra (it is boulder 1.5 km far that has an impression of a snake).
• Charanpaduka (another boulder 3 km far that has an impression of Vishnu’s footprint).
• Maha Murty temple (this shrine dedicated to mother of Badrinath).
• Vasundhara (a waterfall, 5km from Badrinath).
• Mana village near Badrinath (has attractions like Bhim Pul and Vyas Gufa).
• Bhim Pul on the other side of Mana village, a massive rock (believed to have been placed there by Bhim) forming a natural bridge.
• Vyas Gufa (cave): Near Mana Village, this is a rock-cave where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the pauranic commentaries.
Day 10: BADRINATH -RUDRAPRAYAG (160kms) / Kirtinagar (200kms)
• Say goodbye to all the Dhams and head back home.
• Usually, the devotees take a quick bath in Taptkund before starting the return journey.
• You can capture the tourist locations of Mana village if you missed them yesterday.
• To Rudraprayag via Joshimath (It is on the confluence of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers).
• Joshimath is one of the four ‘Maths’ established by Adi Shankaracharya.
• One of the Panch Prayag is Rudraprayag (confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini).
Day 11: RUDRAPRAYAG – RISHIKESH- HARIDWAR (160kms/5hr) / Kirtinagar – Rishikesh (135kms/4hr)
• The final destination is Rishikesh or the place of sages.
• It is an all-rounder town on the banks of river Ganga surrounded.
• As the saga says, Raibhya Rishi did his meditation and God appeared using the name “Hrishikesh”
• Rishikesh has become extremely amongst youth and adventure seekers for rafting and bungee jumping.
• Major attractions for sight-seeing are the Beatles ashram, Triveni Ghat, Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla.
• Enjoy your night in the mighty mountain place of Rishikesh.
Day 12: DEPART TO HOME
Detailed Itinerary:
DAY 1: DELHI- HARIDWAR
• Reporting will be at a pre-designated place at Delhi Railway Station on at Am or Pm.
• Meet & greet by Drifter Sam and proceed to Hotel Overnight stay at the hotel.
• While you are at Haridwar let’s make the most out of it. You can visit all the famous temples namely Daksh Temple, Rudraksha Temple, Kankhal, Jain Temple, Bharat Mata Mandir etc. Har Ki Pauri is the world-famous and crowded ghat on the river Ganges, where evening aarti is an eye-treat. Do not forget to pray in front of Chanda Devi. The temple is regarded as the ‘Seedha Peetha’ which means that wishes come true. The idol of Devi is believed to be installed by Adi Shankaracharya.
• With so much heritage, legends and beliefs end your day at the foothills of Lord Shiva.
DAY 2: HARIDWAR- BARKOT (170Kms /6Hrs)
• Depart from Haridwar early morning and stop for lunch on the way to Nainbaag . Continue your journey and reach Barkot in the Evening after visiting Kempty falls on the way.
• With enthusiasm, you will arrive at Barkot in the evening. You will be surprised by the scenic beauty of this place. Located at the confluence of Yamuna and Tons rivers, there are apple orchards, panoramic views of the snowcapped mountains of Bandar Poonch – it is a stunning place. Barkot is an important stopover to Yamunotri and Gangotri among the four Char Dham Pilgrimages.
• On arrival check in to the hotel, Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel/camp.
DAY 3: BARKOT – YAMUNOTRI – BARKOT {36 Kms drive + 6 Kms Trek (one way)
• Drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti, trek start from here to Yamunotri (6kms). Either by walk or by horse or by Doli at own cost. Arr. Yamunotri, One can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the hot kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as “Prasad”. Here near the temple “Pooja” can be offered to Divya Shila, After taking bath in Jamunabai Kund’s warn water and having “Darshan” of pious “Yamunaji” returning to Jankichatti. Later drive back to Barkot.
• Overnight stay at Hotel/Camp.
• Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again.
• Surya Kund: There are a Number of thermal springs in the vicinity of the temple, which flows into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund.
• Divya Shila: A rock pillar, worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple.
DAY 4: BARKOT – UTTARKASHI (130 Kms / 5 Hrs)
• After a Relaxed breakfast, leave for uttarkashi, Drive of 130 kms.
• From Barkot today you will visit the hub of adventures and spirituality, Uttarakashi. It is the renowned district of Uttarakhand where mountaineers, hikers and pilgrims come every year for their mountain endeavour. Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) is located in Uttarakashi along with a variety of ashrams and temples. The town is considered comparable to Varanasi which is also on the banks of river Ganges.
• One of the pious temples is the Vishwanath temple believed to be the oldest one. It was redeveloped by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in 1857. The entire temple is a huge site which comprises of other shrines of Markandeya Rishi, Ganpati and Sakshi Gopal. While you are at the premises take full advantage of the Akhand Abhishek and Akhand Jyoti. They are of prime importance and bring happiness. If you believe the literature of Skanda Puran, Uttarkashi is home of Lord Shiva for Kaliyug and it is also part of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
• Another incredible spot not to miss is the Shakti temple that is exactly opposite of Vishwanath. It has a massive linga called ‘Trishul’ of 20 feet in height and a circumference of 90 cms. It is made of iron and copper. The legend goes that Shakti was thrown by Durga goddess known as Shakti hence the name.
DAY 5: UTTARKASHI- GANGOTRI 100 KM- UTTARKASHI (100 Kms/ -4 hrs one way
• Early Morning drive to Gangotri (3048 mts), enroute we enjoy picturesque , Bhagirathi River and the most magnificent view of the Himalayas . After Gangotri Darshan we return to Uttarkashi.
• Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.
• Gangotri Temple: Gangotri temple is 18th Centuri temple dedicated to Goddess ganga. It is located near a sacred stone where king Bhagirath worshipped Lords Shiva. Ganga “Deva Yagna ” hear to atone the death of their kinsmen in the epic battle of Mahabharat. The temple is an exquisite 20ft.high structure made of white granite.
• Submerged Shivling: Submerged in the river, this natural rock Shivling is the place where, according to mythology Lord Shiva sat when he received the Ganga in his matted lock. It is visible in winter months when water level decreases.
• Kedar Ganga Sangam: Around 100 Yards from the Ganga Temple flows the river Kedar Ganga. Starting from the Kedar Valle, this river meets the Bhagirathi on its left bank.
DAY 06: UTTARKASHI – GUPTKASHI (220 Kms / 8-9 Hrs)
• After a very early Breakfast, leave for Guptkashi. A late lunch is Scheduled en Route molgarh.
• After lunch, Continue your journey and today for the first time see the Beautiful River Mandakni.
• Travel along side the River to reach Guptakashi late in the Evening, Overnight Stay at Hotel.
DAY 07: GUPTKASHI – KEDARNATH (220 Kms / 8-9 Hrs)
• After breakfast trek to Kedarnath temple.
• Dinner and overnight stay in Kedarnath (Basic type Guest House)
• Kedarnath Temple : The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.
• Option 1– Today will be a milestone of life as you will go to Kedarnath. There will be a medical check-up after which you will head to Sonprayag. From here you will hike up to Kedarnath. You can also take a pony or a doli.
• Option 2 – Take a Helicopter from Guptkashi/Fata Kedarnath needs no introduction. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, a perfect Himalayan getaway with terrific historical and mythological prominence. More importantly, it is just a magnificent spot of beauty and serenity with Kedarnath range at the backdrop. Kedar is synonym name of Lord Shiva who both protector and the destroyer. As per the Mahabharata, the Pandavas after winning the war against Kauravas felt guilty for ending lives of their own brothers. They, therefore, wanted to take the blessing of Lord Shiva. He then escaped and hid in many places. When he finally appeared at Kedarnath. Kedarnath is also part of the Panch Kedar Yatra where parts of Shiva are believed to be found.
Day 08: KEDARNATH TO GUPTKASHI
• After early or late breakfast depand on your flight.Retun fly to guptkashi and phatta.Aftet that drive back to Guptkashi.
• Dinner and overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Day 09: GUPTKASHI TO BADRINATH
• The last but not the least, Badrinath is the final stop of the Char Dhaams. You will take a 7 hours long ride to Badrinath via Joshimath. It will also be your halting point for the day.
• Not many know of the epic behind the name of Badrinath. The location is decored by wild berries, therefore, the name, “Badri van” or “forest of berries”. At 3000 meters height, Badrinath is protected by Nar and Narayan mountains on sideways. This religious place is also filled with hot water springs of which Tapt and Narad kunds are popular. It presents a spectacular view of water thundering down through the narrow passage under the rock and is believed to have been placed there by Bhim, the second eldest among the five Pandava brothers.
• Vyas Gufa (cave) : Near Mana Village, this is a rock-cave where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the pauranic commentaries.
• Badrinath: – Cradled in the twin Mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan is the holies of the four main shrines-badrinath along the left bank of Alaknanda with the towering Neelkanth peak as the splendid backdrop. Once the spot was carpeted eith “Bador wild berries and hence was famous as Badrivan.
• Legend has it when the ganga was requested to descend to earth to help suffering humanity, the earth was unable to with stand the force of its descent, There for the mighty ganga was split in to 12 holy channels, Alaknanda was one of then that later became the abode of Loard Vishnu or Badrinath Ji.
• Badrinath one of the ‘Four Dhams’ is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus the place got the name “Badri van”, meaning “forest of berries”.
• Tapt Kund: Natural thermal springs on the bank of the river Alaknanda, where it is customary to bathe before entering the Badrinath temple.

Usually, the devotees take a quick bath in Taptkund before starting the return journey. You can capture the tourist locations of Mana village if you missed them yesterday.
• Before Rudraprayag, you will again touch Joshimath. It is on the confluence of the Alaknanda and Dhauliganga rivers. It is one of the four ‘Maths’ established by Adi Shankaracharya. One of the Panch Prayag or joining of Alaknanda is Rudraprayag. It is the convergence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. Many tourists are coming for rafting and tea breaks here
Day 11: RUDRAPRAYAG – RISHIKESH- HARIDWAR (160KMS/5HR) / KIRTINAGAR – RISHIKESH (135KMS/4HR

• When does the Chardham Yatra begin?
Ans: Chardham yatra opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya of Chaitya month and remains open until the day of Bhai Dooj (two days of Diwali).
• How long does the Yatra take?
Ans:Depending on your starting point, the yatra will take you 10 days. Char Dham yatra begins with a visit to Yamunotri Dham- the holy shrine dedicated to goddess Yamuna. A 36 Km drive from Barkot, followed by a 7 km trek will get you to the place where the river Yamuna is said to have originated. You can choose to start your yatra , Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun according to your convenience.
• What points should I keep in my mind before embarking on my Char Dham Yatra?
Ans: The points should be kept in mind are follows:
• Age bracket : Between 7 and 65 years.
• Trekking shoes are a necessity
• Warm jackets, Sweaters, Gloves, Woollen Socks, raincoats are also a must as the weather can get chilly.
• Can people above 50 years with a good health handle the Kedarnath Trek?
Ans:
• It is a 21 kilometer trek one way, which is quiet a lot of distance for a senior citizen.
• It is a difficult trek but people with a good health can handle this.
• You will have to spend one night in Kedarnath Ji place as the entire trek cannot be covered in one day.

By Air :-
• Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 48 km from the Haridwar. There is a daily flight from Delhi for Dehradun, reach Haridwar one day early if coming by flight.
By Train:-
• An excellent rail network connects Haridwar to other important cities like Delhi, Mussoorie, Mumbai, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Kolkata.

Usually buses drop you at Haridwar bus station. From there you have to come to Haridwar Railway Station.

If a trip must be delayed or the itinerary changed due to bad weather, road conditions, transportation delays, government intervention, airline schedules, sickness, or other contingency for which PANCHTATTVA ADVENTURE or its agents cannot make provision, the cost of delays and/or other changes are the responsibility of the participant. PANCHTATTVA ADVENTURE reserves the right to decline, or accept, any individual as a trip member for any reason whatsoever.
